Most Expensive Property of the Year Hits Market - Here's What $125 Million Buys
$125 million is a tough number to truly wrap the mind around. That's more than $2 million every year over the span of the average working career. In the land of excess, though, such a sum could be just another day of shopping.
Hitting the market in May of 2020, this year's most expensive property so far looks to be located out in Malibu, California.
California has been known to host major price premiums. Land and square footage certainly doesn't come cheap in the Golden State. In fact, according to Zillow, buyers can expect to spend $315 per sqft as opposed to the national average of $125, give or take a bit.
However, the vibe in California is unlike any other.
This time, we see that vibe come alive with 27560 Pacific Coast Hwy.
Listed by Chris Cortazzo, the home has everything that one could ever want or need.
Cortazzo starts the listing by mentioning "Generous interior and exterior space, luxurious furnishings, a guesthouse, pool, and panoramic ocean vistas." Straight from the first line, we're already hooked.
He then goes on to describe the Malibu residence as "Chic, modern, and eminently comfortable."
The privately gated 2.9 acres seems to be a rarity in Malibu. It even comes with its own security guardhouse. The acreage sits on approximately 256 feet of beach frontage.
The main house sits on just a single level and spans four beds and six baths.
As soon as one makes their way through the front door, the luxuries are abundant. The architecture boasts "Vaulted ceilings, beautiful herringbone hardwood floors, and floor-to-ceiling windows and doors opening onto the exquisite grounds."
With a home like this, though, buyers are going to be looking for those intricate additions that really make it pop. We think that the waterfall Koi pond does just that!
Following along with the touches that complete the picture, we find a wall of frosted privacy glass that will turn transparent at the touch of a button. Behind the glass, we find a spacious office/study, a large patio and lawn, and the spectacular ocean views beyond. We have to take a second to pause and really appreciate how amazing these views are.
The house even features its own recording studio with a half bath.
With a home of this caliber, we're all wondering how the kitchen fits in. This is generally an area where spending habits are apparent. Apparently, no expense was spared in the gourmet kitchen that features an eat-in island, high-end appliances, and a large butler's pantry equipped with a full kitchen.
Continuing the tour, we find a powder room and a wine room adjacent to a hallway leads to three en-suite bedrooms. "The elegant master suite is in a separate wing, with high ceilings and double French doors that open to an expansive patio seating area and gorgeous ocean views."
We also find not one but dual master baths, each with walk-in dressing closets, each with an adjacent in-ground saltwater spa and outdoor shower.
On the feature list that's already rather lengthy at this point, we find a staff office and laundry room. In addition, there's a "Private and separate three-story guesthouse with two large bedrooms on the upper floor; a large main room, currently used as a gym, a full kitchen, and an en-suite bedroom on the main floor; and a mirrored room, bathroom, and bonus room on the lower level."
Outside the guesthouse, there's a patio enclosed on one side by a massive outdoor aquarium that has been built into a stone wall. If that's not cool and unique, we're not really sure what is.
Don't forget the basketball court, beautifully landscaped grounds, spacious cabana with retractable ceilings, wet bar with seating, a built-in barbecue with sink, a built-in couch and firepit.
From the home, steps lead to the beach and a huge wood deck that spans the width of the entire property. For those who like to entertain, this is definitely how it's done!
